Harris supports $16.6 million investment to create jobs in Illinois

04302019CM1079DOLTON – To support Illinois’ ongoing pandemic response, the U.S Department of Labor created two new grants that will bring nearly 1,300 jobs to the state, and State Senator Napoleon Harris, III urges unemployed workers to apply. 

“Thousands of Illinois residents have lost their jobs due the pandemic, and this investment provides the opportunity for many of them to return to work,” Harris said. “Our working families are one of the most essential factors for the state’s recovery.

Harris encourages residents to apply for Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Harris052416DOLTON – Due to a high number of working families losing their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic, State Senator Napoleon Harris, III (D-Harvey) is encouraging Illinois tenants who have missed rental payments to apply for the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

“Many low-income workers and households lack the financial capacity to afford rental payments with missed paychecks,” Harris said. “Emergency rental assistance provides rental support for tenants who need it most during uncertain economic times. I encourage tenants who missed rent payments to apply for the rental assistance program.”

Harris encourages South Suburb residents to complete 2020 Census

Be Counted FBDOLTON – As time begins to run out for South Suburb residents to be counted in the 2020 Census, State Senator Napoleon Harris (D-Harvey) is encouraging residents to fill out the Census immediately, noting it takes less than 10 minutes. 

“It’s not too late to be counted for the 2020 Census,” Harris said. “This data determines the amount of funding state governments and local communities receive from the federal government for the next decade. Every household needs to respond in an effort for the South Suburban communities to be fully counted.”

Harris urges community-based organizations to apply for Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program
