
SPRINGFIELD – To ensure the state’s K-9 units are looked after, State Senator Napoleon Harris III championed a law giving retired police dogs long-term veterinary care.
“Our K-9s are held to a high standard of performance throughout their time on the job,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “Like our first responders, they serve this state honorably and deserve considerate, lasting care when they retire.”

SPRINGFIELD – Those at risk of peripheral artery disease will soon have medical screening covered by insurance thanks to a new law championed by State Senator Napoleon Harris III.
“Early intervention can be lifesaving for those with PAD,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “This law will increase the number of early intervention cases by eliminating financial hurdles to receive screening.”

HARVEY – State Senator Napoleon Harris III announced that 19 school districts across the 15th Senate District will receive over $4 million in evidence-based funding, in addition to the base funding that the state provides.
“I believe that every student, no matter their ZIP code, deserves access to a high-quality education,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “I’m proud to have helped secured these resources so our schools can invest in the tools they need to succeed.”

HARVEY – State Senator Napoleon Harris III is encouraging local community organizations and education institutions to apply for grants from the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program to give more young people a path into the trades.
“This is a great opportunity for our community to take advantage of funding to train kids to enter the construction trades,” said Harris (D-Harvey). “This program has shown a lot of success and it’s important that we share in that success.”
